Ballet Beyond Borders

Several times throughout MWC’s history, we have collaborated with the international dance company Ballet Beyond Borders. In January 2023, MWC and Ballet Beyond Borders joined forces to bring dancers into two schools: K. William Harvey Elementary School, located in Ronan on the Flathead Reservation of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and Lowell Elementary School in Missoula. Students had a chance to see performances ranging from contemporary to modern, interpretive to national. When the dancers were finished, students translated the dancers’ movements into poetry. After 20 minutes of writing, students shared their poems with the dancers in a moving exchange between dance and words.
