Monarch Butterfly

Monarch

by Gaia, C.S. Porter, 7th Grade

A delicate beautiful creature, yet strong and powerful
A journey of a thousand miles, a lifetime for one butterfly
Only so she can lay her eggs, in the finest patches of milkweed
One hundred eggs layed, from only one monarch
Every time her voluminous colorful wings brush past your face,
the fine powder dusts your skin
She flies, flies, flies
Born to know what direction to fly
She rests on the needle of a pine tree
